openIMIS for Kaduna State Health Insurance
International Labour Organization (ILO)
Overview
Kaduna State in northern Nigeria established KADCHMA to operate a contributory health insurance scheme providing healthcare coverage to the state's population. The ILO engaged 2M Corp to customise and deploy the openIMIS platform as the digital backbone for the scheme's operations.
2M Corp developed invoicing, payments, payer management, and document management modules, along with custom features specific to KADCHMA's needs. Integrations were built with accounting systems for financial reconciliation and civil registration systems for beneficiary identity verification.
A comprehensive testing programme was defined and executed — UAT, functional, integration, usability, security, stress, and load testing. Structured training was delivered to KADCHMA staff with comprehensive technical documentation including user and administrator manuals.
Impact
The deployment provided KADCHMA with a modern, scalable platform supporting the full insurance lifecycle — from enrolment through claims processing and provider payments — establishing critical digital infrastructure for expanding health coverage in one of Nigeria's most populous states.
