Social Registry Update Strategy — GamSR
National Social Protection Secretariat / World Bank
Overview
The Gambia Social Registry (GamSR) serves as the national database for identifying and managing information on vulnerable households for social protection targeting. As new data systems emerged — civil registration, national ID, and census data — a strategy was needed to update and strengthen the registry.
2M Corp conducted a comprehensive review of the GamSR's structure, functionality, and data sources. Interoperability options were explored with the Civil Registration System, National ID System, and Population and Housing Census. Stakeholder consultations were conducted with government agencies, programme implementers, and development partners.
The deliverables included an inception report, a technical report with gap analysis and implementation roadmap, a validation workshop presentation, and a final report incorporating stakeholder feedback.
Impact
The strategy provides a clear, evidence-based roadmap for modernising the backbone of The Gambia's social protection delivery system, positioning the GamSR as a more accurate and connected tool for targeting interventions.
